- Bluff Manufacturing, founded by the Sherrod family, began at the original “Fort” Worth site in 1849
- Started as a metal fabrication business in the 1930s, Bluff expanded into steel dock boards in 1968 & later into aluminum dock boards
- Pioneered innovative processes, including attaching steel curbs to aluminum plates
- Experienced several relocations to accommodate growth, finally settling in its current location in 1995
- Introduced regional distribution centers for efficient dock ramp delivery nationwide
- Implemented an inceptive compensation system in 1985, leading to a significant boost in productivity
- Innovated edge-of-dock levelers with the patented “Ratchet Riser” in 1988
- Acquired rights to manufacture Yard Ramps in 1991, converting the design to steel
- Sherrod family sold its interest to Magline, Inc. owners and Clark Smith in 1999
- Expanded product line to include the Crash Guard in 20023
- Achieved compliance with ANSI standard MH30.2 in 2006, becoming the first manufacturer to do so
