Be Safe and Stay Safe this June!

It’s June! The beginning of summer; which means warm weather, weddings, and trips to the water park! Here are some other fun facts about the month of June (according to learning.kern.org). June is also Dairy month, National Rose Month, National Forest System Month, National Frozen Yogurt Month, National Iced Tea Month and… brace yourself… it is also the birth month of Superman! And these are just a few June specialties. For some of us, June marks the passing of half a year and leaves us wondering where the time went.

For Bluff Manufacturing and its partners, customers, employees, and the rest of the Material Handling World, June is the National Safety Month as marked by the National Safety Council – http://www.nsc.org/Pages/Home.aspx.

The National Safety Council (NSC) is a great resource for both employers and employees to gather vital information about being safe at home, work, and play. The NSC also focuses some of its efforts in keeping people safe on the roads.

As part of its National Safety Month observance, the NSC picks certain safety aspects to highlight each week of June.  The week of June 5th – June 11th will focus on “Preventing overexertion at work.” The often-used maxim “work smart, not hard” applies here in some measure. The NSC reminds us to work smarter with some of these great tips to prevent overexertion at work:

  • Stretch and/or warm up before heavy lifting or strenuous activity
  • Lift with your legs bent and objects held close to your body
  • Avoid bending, reaching and twisting when lifting
  • Ask a friend for help when lifting

Safety has always been at the core of Bluff Manufacturing whether it is maintaining a safe work environment for our employees or producing safe products for our customers. Bluff manufactures an entire line of products committed to securing your personnel and property. Bluff’s line of warehouse safety products operate as “safety barricades” to prevent damage or injury by forklifts and all other powered and manual equipment in your plant or warehouse.

Beginning with rigorous testing of our products and adhering to strict ANSI MH30.2 standards, Bluff ensures that we pass on the safest and highest quality product to our customers right from design and testing through application. Whether we are manufacturing dock boards, yard ramps, or dock levelers, Bluff makes sure its products can easily withstand and pass any tests and standards.

So in honor of the National Safety Month, let each one of us commit some time this month to reassess our safety practices and policies and to ensure we are doing the best we can to create a safer workplace and home as well as safer roads.
